What is the WaveScan System?

The WaveScan wavefront system is a computer program that precisely maps the topography of a patient's eye. The WaveScan technology is much like a high-powered telescope and is 25 times more accurate than the machine that ophthalmologists and optometrists have been using since the 1850s to prescribe eyeglasses and contacts.

During the LASIK procedure, the WaveScan map is transferred to the VISX Excimer laser. The exact and precise measurements are used to gently shape the cornea and eliminate visual imperfections giving the patient excellent vision.
