Over the last 20 years, millions of people around the world have improved their vision with LASIK surgery. However, not everyone is a good LASIK candidate. Some patients may have corneas that are too thin or abnormally shaped. Others may have high levels of nearsightedness.

Today there are many other vision corrections options in San Diego for those interested in eliminating or reducing their need for glasses or contact lenses. These vision correction alternatives include:

PRK or Advance Surface Ablation – PRK is very similar to San Diego LASIK, but instead of creating a corneal flap, the laser gently reshapes the surface of the cornea.

Implantable Contact Lenses – An implantable contact lens procedure is a vision correction option for patients with moderate to high levels of nearsightedness. The implantable lens is surgically placed in front of the natural lens of the eye. Click here to watch a video segment on Implantable Contact Lenses. Cataract Treatments/Refractive Lens exchange – A refractive lens exchange procedure can be done to address vision issues such as cataracts and presbyopia. During the treatment, the lens of the eye is replaced with an Intraocular Lens to improve the patient’s vision.
