Tecnis™ Intraocular Lens (IOL) for Cataract Surgery in San Diego

What is the TECNIS™ Lens? (Advanced WaveFront Technology)

The TECNIS IOL is an advanced, FDA-approved artificial lens manufactured by Johnson & Johnson Vision. It is designed to replace your eye's natural lens during cataract surgery or Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE).

What sets the TECNIS lens apart from traditional lenses is its patented aspheric design. It is specifically contoured to match the natural shape of a healthy, youthful cornea, resulting in sharper contrast and higher-quality functional vision than standard Medicare-covered lenses.

Advanced Technology

The Tecnis™ Intraocular Lens (IOL) is an advanced solution for cataract surgery patients, developed using the same WaveFront technology used in Personalized LASIK and PRK procedures.

How It Works

Like ReSTOR®, ReZoom™, and Crystalens® IOLs, the Tecnis™ lens replaces the natural, clouded lens during cataract surgery. It improves distance vision and helps patients see fifty feet further when driving, thanks to its modified spherical shape, which reduces spherical aberration and enhances functional vision and light contrast sensitivity.

The Tecnis™ IOL Procedure

During cataract surgery, Dr. Feldman inserts the Tecnis™ lens through a tiny incision, providing improved vision within a couple of weeks. The procedure is virtually painless with a short healing time.

Frequently Asked Questions About TECNIS Lenses

Q1: What is a TECNIS lens? Ans: The TECNIS lens is a premium, aspheric intraocular lens (IOL) used to replace the eye's natural lens during cataract surgery. It is uniquely designed to eliminate spherical aberration, providing sharper contrast and better night vision than standard lenses. Q2: Will I still need glasses with a TECNIS lens? Ans: If you choose the standard TECNIS Monofocal lens, you will likely achieve excellent distance vision but may still need reading glasses for up-close tasks. If you upgrade to a TECNIS Multifocal or EDOF lens, your dependence on glasses for reading and computer work will be dramatically reduced or completely eliminated. Q3: Are TECNIS lenses safe? Ans: Yes. TECNIS lenses are FDA-approved, highly biocompatible, and have been safely implanted in millions of eyes worldwide. Dr. Feldman will evaluate your specific eye health to ensure it is the perfect fit for you.
