Light Adjustable Lens (RxSight®) in San Diego

Customize Your Vision After Cataract Surgery or Refractive Lens Exchange

The Light Adjustable Lens (LAL®/LAL+®) from RxSight is the first and only intraocular lens that can be precisely adjusted after it’s implanted. That means you and your surgeon can fine‑tune your prescription in the weeks following surgery, so your results reflect how you actually see in real life.

How the Light Adjustable Lens Works

  • Cataract/Lens surgery (Day 0). Your clouded natural lens is removed and replaced with the Light Adjustable Lens.
  • Healing (Weeks 1–3). As your eye stabilizes, we measure your vision and talk about your goals (distance, computer, reading, or a blended plan).
  • Light adjustments (Weeks 3–5). In a comfortable clinic visit, a special UV light is used to subtly reshape the implanted lens and shift your prescription. Each light treatment takes about 90 seconds per eye. Most people need 1–3 adjustments.
  • Lock‑in (Following adjustments). Two final light treatments “lock” the lens so it will no longer change.

What you’ll notice: between visits you can assess your vision in the real world, driving, screens, hobbies, and tell us what to fine‑tune next.

Why Patients Choose Clearview for LAL

  • Proven expertise. Thousands of successful vision‑correction procedures; led by fellowship‑trained surgeons.
  • All‑options approach. If the Light Adjustable Lens isn’t the best fit, we’ll recommend other advanced lenses (monofocal, toric, multifocal, extended‑depth‑of‑focus, or Light Adjustable).
  • Personal, transparent care. One‑on‑one time with your surgeon, clear pricing, and coaching through each step—surgery, adjustments, and “lock‑in.”

Who is a Good Candidate?

You may be a candidate if you:

  • Are having cataract surgery (or refractive lens exchange) and
  • Have astigmatism or a prescription for glasses/contacts and
  • Don’t have pre‑existing macular disease and
  • Can wear UV‑protective glasses during waking hours until lock‑in and keep all follow‑up visits

Risks & Safety

All eye surgery carries risks such as infection, inflammation, changes in vision, or need for additional procedures. With LAL you must:

  • Wear UV‑protective glasses during waking hours until final lock‑in
  • Attend all adjustment and lock‑in appointments

Some eye conditions and medications are not compatible with LAL. We’ll discuss your specific risks and alternatives at your consultation.
