LASIK Savings for Police, Firefighters and Military in San Diego

What if your vision kept up with your job? A respirator mask that won't seal over your frames. Lenses that fog the second you step out of a cold patrol car. A contact that dries out halfway through a 24-hour shift, or a pair of glasses that goes flying when things get physical.

If you wear a badge, a helmet or a uniform, you already know that glasses and contacts were never designed for your job. That's why Clearview Eye & Laser Medical Center offers police officers, firefighters, military service members and their families exclusive savings of up to $1,400 on LASIK.

It's our way of saying thank you to the people who keep San Diego safe. Here's what the program covers, which procedures make sense for demanding work, and how to get started.

Why do glasses and contacts fall short on duty?

Everyday eyewear works fine at a desk. It struggles in the conditions first responders and service members face every week.

• Firefighters wear SCBA masks that need a clean seal against the face. Glasses frames can get in the way, and smoke, heat and ash are hard on contact lenses.

• Police officers deal with rain, glare, night driving and sudden physical encounters where glasses can be knocked off at the worst possible moment.

• Military personnel train and deploy in dust, sand and humidity, often with limited access to clean water for lens care and long stretches without a chance to swap out contacts.

• Everyone on shift work knows the feeling of dry, irritated eyes from contacts worn far longer than the box recommends.

Vision correction surgery can reduce or eliminate dependence on glasses and contacts for many patients. That means one less piece of gear to manage, and one less thing to think about when it counts.

How much can you save, and who qualifies?

Eligible heroes and their families can save up to $1,400 on LASIK at Clearview.* The program is open to:

• Firefighters

• Military service members

• Their families

Your exact savings depend on the procedure that's right for your eyes, which we'll determine together at your free consultation. Just let our team know you serve when you call or book, and we'll walk you through the details and any verification we need.

Want to spread out the cost? Clearview also offers flexible financing options, and many patients use pre-tax dollars from a Flex or Health Savings account.

Which procedure fits your line of work?

LASIK is the name most people know, but it isn't the only option. Clearview offers several approaches, and the right one depends on your eyes, your prescription and the kind of work you do.

A laser creates a thin corneal flap, then reshapes the cornea underneath. It's the most established option, with a quick visual recovery.

The cornea is reshaped through a small incision, with no flap. Worth asking about if you want a flap-free option and your prescription falls within SMILE's treatment range.

The surface of the cornea is reshaped directly, with no flap or incision. Worth asking about if your corneas are thin, or your work involves contact, impact or combat training.

A lens is placed inside the eye, with no corneal tissue removed. Worth asking about if your prescription is high, or your corneas aren't suited to laser reshaping.

Every procedure at Clearview is performed using FDA-approved technology by Dr. Sandy T. Feldman or Dr. Michael L. Mathison. The best way to know which one suits you is a full evaluation. Curious where you stand? Start with our LASIK candidate guide.

On active duty? What should you check first?

If you're currently serving, talk to your command before scheduling any vision correction procedure. Many branches have specific rules about civilian refractive surgery, and some roles, such as aviation, diving and special operations, have their own requirements around which procedures are allowed and how recovery is documented.

Getting that approval sorted out first protects your career and keeps everything on the record the way your branch expects. Bring any paperwork or questions to your consultation, and our team will help you understand your options.

Police officers, firefighters and family members can simply call us to get started.

What happens at your free consultation?

Your first visit is complimentary, comprehensive and pressure-free. Here's what to expect:

1. A detailed eye exam. We measure your prescription, corneal thickness and shape, and overall eye health using advanced diagnostic technology.

2. A conversation about your work. Tell us about your shifts, your gear and your training. It helps us recommend the approach that fits your life, not just your eyes.

3. Your personalized recommendation. If you're a good candidate, we'll explain which procedure we suggest and why. If you're not, we'll tell you that too.

4. Clear pricing. You'll leave knowing exactly what your procedure costs with your hero savings applied.

Clearview is located at 6255 Lusk Blvd, Suite 100, in San Diego, with appointments Monday through Saturday.
